Our Terrific Team
Once a year we close our shop for a day and celebrate. What do we celebrate? We celebrate our team. Krispies is open 360 days per year, our prep starts at 9.00am and often the last person does not leave the shop till after 11.00pm so we work long, hard hours. We love it but once a year Tim and I want to spend a day giving something back to our team, to say thank you and to generally remind them how much we a appreciate what they do for us. Oh, and we also want to have a damn good time!
This year our annual staff day was particularly important because earlier this year we won the From Field to Fryer Award, something we would never have been able to do without top quality staff so we really wanted to do something special that brought us all together as a team.
We started off, as all good days out should, with a Full English Breakfast (thank you Dockside Café, Exmouth – nothing beats it). Then we headed off to the Bear Trail in Cullompton, Devon which says it is “a muddy adventure trail for all the family” – the Krispies family in this instance. Now, romping around a mud assault course (and yes, it was very, very muddy) maybe not everyone’s idea of team building but for us it is an opportunity to do something completely different from our day to day lives.
The course has about 16 different obstacles you had to do. We didn’t split into teams but all worked together to get through each of the challenges which involved team work, fun and an opportunity to work with people you may not usually work with in the shop on a day to day basis. I can honestly say that this was the best staff event we have ever had, we have a great team who enjoy each other’s company, who work brilliantly together (both on and off mud assault courses) and when you are covered in mud and hanging from a zip line there is nothing else to do but laugh together.
Our staff really are the most important part of our business because without them we could not cook great food and serve it with a smile seven days a week never mind win our awards! So, we want to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of them for their dedication, their ability to keep smiling even during the busiest and hottest of summer days and the endless pride they show in the work they do be it cutting potatoes, frying fish, wrapping chips or even washing the floor after service!
Oh, and don’t’ worry, we all had a very good, very hot shower after the Bear Trail, all traces of mud are gone forever!
PS – If you fancy joining our crazy crew and risk getting covered in mud on the odd occasion we will consider applications at anytime, even when it looks like we don't have any vacancies. So do drop us a line at firstname.lastname@example.org or fill in our online application form here
