Celebrating British Food at Krispies
As you know we are very proud of our food at Krispies and we do all we can to source our goods from top notch suppliers that, where possible, are British. After all, we are not any old fish and chip shop so we make sure we get the very best we can and as locally as we can too. This year we are celebrating British Food Fortnight by highlighting the products we source from our British suppliers – some of which are even in Exmouth!
Of course most of our fish comes from Iceland and the North Sea but again, where we can we source other fish from British Fishermen and in particular our Menu Specials are often caught in our own waters including our October Menu Special Monkfish.
Here is a list of where we source our other ingredients from:
Only the very best potatoes will do for our award winning chips so all our spuds are British. They come from various counties depending on the season including Shropshire, Lincolnshire, Cambridgeshire and of course right here in Devon.
Our excellent burgers come from independent, family run butchers Porky Down and are made right here in Exmouth.
Some sausages break up when fried so we had to do a lot of research to find the best quality, best tasting and most robust! We eventually choose sausages from Stoke, Staffordshire.
All our salad is from Dart Fresh Produce just up the road in Topsham. If they can’t grow it themselves they do everything they can to source their product as locally as possible.
Crispy pastry, hearty fillings there's nothing like a Pukka Pie! Pukka’s are made by an independent, family company which are based in Leicestershire.
We want good quality cheddar on our chips and burgers to our cheese comes from Wyke Farms in Somerset which is a family farm who have been making award winning cheese to a secret family recipe for generations.
Our specially grated peas come from East Anglia. We use these to make our mushy peas and pea fritters right here on the premises.
It is always our aim to always be on the look out for new products that we can source from British suppliers and, if possible, local suppliers too so keep an eye on our website for any updates to our menu items.
Meanwhile, over British Food Fortnight we will be having tasters of some or all of our British sourced food – keep an eye our on facebook or our website to see what you can come down and taste and when.
