Homemade by Krispies
We are proud of our food at Krispies. It is the most important thing about our business and we are constantly looking to serve you the very best we can, be it Fish, Potatoes, Mushy Peas or Burgers.
One way we can ensure that our food comes up to our own very high standards is to make it ourselves to our very own recipes. So, every morning as well as cutting fish and potatoes and mixing our batter you will find our team creating our own dishes.
We buy the peas for our Mushy Peas from a specialist supplier in East Anglia, you can’t just use any peas, they have to be the right marrow fat variety and of course they have to be the best. From our homemade Mushy Peas we also make our Mushy Pea Fritters – if you haven’t tried them then you must, they are delicious (even though we do say so ourselves) and what is more they are plant based so great for those on plant based diets. We also handmake our own cheese bites, using a locally made strong cheddar. And, of course, our tartare sauce, we have been making our own over four years now, slowly perfecting as we go and you won’t find anything quite like it in any other Fish & Chip shop in the land!
Our most recent addition to our Homemade list is our Burgers. Rob is a real, live and very experienced butcher and when he joined us a year ago all he has talked about was making burgers to our own special recipe. We couldn’t hold back the enthusiasm, so we let him loose, did some essential testing (someone has to do the tough jobs) and we are very proud to serve our very own Homemade Krispies Burgers.
The more things we make in the shop the more we want to make ourselves. We know food provenance is important and we want our customers know where their food is coming from as well as making it special and original and part of the unique Krispies experience. So next on our hit list is making our own curry sauce, it has to be right and better than the excellent sauce we are currently serving. Testing is still underway so watch this space.
And, of course, Rob is not satisfied with just making the burgers! Next, he wants a go at sausages. This will be an interesting challenge but we are so pleased with the burgers why wouldn’t we see what magic he can bring to our sausages? I mean, who could resist a sausage made to our very own special recipe made right here on premises? It’s early days for the Krispies Sausage so watch this space!
Overall, food is at the heart of Krispies and everything we serve, be it bought in from tried and tested suppliers or made right here on the premises, is made with love, passion and care.
