Did you know that it’s National Fish and Chip Day on June 7th? Here at Krispies, we’re really excited about this special day that was created to celebrate the nation’s favourite dish. After all, fish and chips have been loved by people across the UK for over 150 years and there’s so many reasons we, as a Fish and Chip business, support it.

The fish and chip industry has come a long way since the first recorded fish and chip shop - that was opened in London around 1860 by a Jewish immigrant called Joseph Malin. That it quickly grew into being the nation’s favourite dish is what makes fish and chips so special, and we love the fact that National Fish and Chip Day is all about giving fish and chips the recognition it deserves, as well as securing its position as our favourite takeaway choice.

And, National Fish and Chip Day not only brings together everyone who serves up fish and chips - from fish and chip shops such as ours to pub chains, restaurants and even retailers, it also celebrates the people who get the food to us - the fishermen and the farmers who work so hard to give us the sustainable, fresh ingredients we need to give you, our customers, the high quality and natural fish and chips you love. At Krispies we wholeheartedly support sustainability when it comes to our suppliers, especially the need for sustainable fishing.  Our customers can be reassured that they are buying food that is responsibly sourced and we are very proud of our MSC certificate, which means that the fish we source comes from sustainable fishing practices and ensures the future of our much loved fish and chips. To find out more about the MSC go to www.msc.org.

To support and celebrate this special day, we’re  giving away hundreds of portions of fish and chips to the local community in our ‘Pay it Forward’ campaign and we want your help.

How does it work? For every portion of fish and chips you buy, we will donate one portion of fish and chips to a charity of your choice from our chosen charities*.

We’re also giving goody bags out on the day to the first 100 customers and, there’s a chance to win tickets to the September Fish and Fizz cruise in partnership with Stuart Line Cruises.

To help us with our ‘Pay it Forward’ campaign and to find out more about our competition, join us on June 7th… See you then!

*Charities include The Salvation Army, Exmouth Friends In need and The Open Door Centre.
